Karen Ferkau, PA-C

Born and raised in a quaint suburb of Chicago, I’ve called this vibrant city home for over 30 years—a place that has shaped both my personal and professional journey.

With a foundation in Criminal Justice from Loyola University and a subsequent degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University, my academic journey has been diverse, enriching, and instrumental in shaping my approach to patient care.

With over two decades of experience in orthopedic spine surgery and neurosurgery, I’ve honed my expertise in understanding the complexities of the spine and its impact on our well-being. Joining the pain clinic team, I am thrilled to apply this knowledge towards enhancing the lives of those suffering from chronic pain conditions.

My goal is to collaborate closely with our patients to craft personalized care plans that address their unique needs and empower them towards a pain-managed lifestyle.

Outside of the clinic, my passions are as diverse as my career. From the adrenaline rush of rollerblading along the lakefront to the joys of exploring new destinations through travel to the tranquility found in cooking and baking, my hobbies are a reflection of my zest for life.

A fervent animal lover, my heart holds a special place for dogs, embodying loyalty and unconditional love.

My years of volunteering at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Shedd Aquarium have been immensely rewarding, offering me unique experiences and the chance to meet a variety of wonderful people.

I look forward to bringing my passion, experience, and empathy to our clinic, striving each day to make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve.
